The initiative Art and Social Practice: A Virtual Symposium builds on a 2014 event organised by the networked Art & Social Practice modules at Shetland College UHI led by artist Roxane Permar. This year the lead has been taken by the Community Practices Research Cluster in Middlesex’s School of Art and Design, with the aim of developing an annual international event promoting dialogue, interaction and exchange and instigating an ongoing network for emerging artists in this expanding field of practice.

Art & Social Practices – Virtual Symposium is an annual video-conference that bring together students, artists and lecturers researching the subject of creative production and social practices. It was initiated in 2014 by the University of the Highlands and Islands and this year is being organised by Middlesex University with University of the Highlands and Islands managing connectivity and University of East London publishing extracts from the debate.
